Abstract
For determination of the effect of protein supplementation for in vitro fertilizationembryo-transfer on two-cell mouse embryo in vitro, 102 two-cell mouse embryos were cultured in protein-free medium, 91 two-cell mouse embryos in 0.8% bovine
serum
albumin, and 89 two-cell mouse embryos in 20% hman fetal cord serum for 96 hours. respectively. the embryos cultured for first 48 hours in protein supplemented media demonstrated reduced growth rate, but the embryos cultured in protein-free
medium
demonstrated significantly reduced hatching rate.
In summary, it appears that the timing of protein supplementation of the culture medium important to embryo development. We need further study to identify the toxic component protein for increasing the survival rate of embryo in vitro.
